Music Theory Forum?
« on: August 21, 2012, 05:50:05 AM »
I think it would be helpful to have a dedicated forum area for posts related to Music Theory...

I've got lots to say, present and self-made illustrations that might help someone understand their banjo better...

And it might give me a break from the constant tabbing and posting of tabs... a diversion...

Please, please, please?

I have a thick head that I would offer up as a test platform to see if you can help me understand my banjo.
I think my therapist would allow it.....
I second the motion.

How "thick" can a banjo head be?  :timeout:

Sure, we can do that. Do you guys mind waiting a few more days while Thor finishes the upgrades?

That would be interesting, I spent the last couple of days reading up scales and chords for the banjo. I had to read things 2 or 3 or 4 times before it started making some sense. But I decided I don't wanna just play songs, I wanna actually learn how to play the banjo and how the darn thing works.

I got tons more reading and re-reading and practicing to do. I would love a mucic theory forum. I have noticed some people have a better way of explaining things than others, and then when it gets to the next part, I get lost until I find somebody else who explains that part well. Sp I been making myself notes, and drawing pictures and trying things on the fretboard over and over...I guess nobody ever says "I wanna learn banjo so I can change majo chords to minors in 3 different inversions on it"....but it's an eye opener what you can do when trying to learn a tune that doesn't sound just right and you pick apart the chord notes in different positions and experiment.

Anyway, it's been keeping me intersted and I would love to see and learn what others have figured out about making music.

I Pick and Grin...still working out the timing on that...

I would be another one who would appreciate a theory forum.  I struggle with it a lot.

Cheers, Paul

I'll talk to Barbie and see if she'll hook us up another Childboard for Music Theory...

She'll have to decide where to put it...

She likes to make decisions...

All Aboard???

 :thanks:

Thanks Tom, I would reckon that I'd be a customer for that.  At least on occasion, as long as it's not too technical for a bluegrass picker! :banjo:
