Should you boycott something you enjoy?
« on: October 09, 2017, 08:07:46 PM »
The NFL issue doesn't seem to be going away but I really love Sunday football.  But on the flip side, I'm a flag waving, God Bless America singing patriot.   :tantrumx:

Barbie, what exactly is the problem.  I believe some players are kneeling and not standing and I take it that it is considered unpatriotic.

Paul, it started with Colin Kaepernick protesting social injustice towards blacks by police.  But over the weeks, it evolved into a flag/anthem statement.  I think I just resent having politics injected into a game that I enjoy as an escape from the politics of the week.  I understand the original intent but Kaepernick can't buy a team to pick him up so where did it get him.  Now it's all political and I JUST WANT TO WATCH A FOOTBALL GAME!!!  Yes they have the right to "take a knee" but the patriot in me says...stand the hell up.

I believe that if enough people boycott it , They will kick politics out of the game and it will be the sport people watch it for . Me personally , I believe in standing for the Flag of the country you are in . In some country's you would be very sorry you didn't . This is a free country and will remain so , only as long as people love it and fight for it.

Trust me officer , I'm a banjo player , it only seems like I'm going faster than everyone else.

Barbie, I completely agree with you. This protest crap has nothing to do with football or any other sport, it's not the place for it, IMO!

Although I'm not a football fan and don't watch or attend NFL games, I will always stand, facing the US Flag, my head covering removed, and my right hand over my heart, when The National Anthem is played.

As far as boycotting the sport, (or any form of entertainment) I think that's up to each person.
